Can LAs work more than 5 hours per week?

Yes! While most LAs average about 5 hours per week, there are opportunities to work additional hours depending on the course’s needs and your availability. For example:

  • Additional sections: If a course has extra sections to cover, an LA may be offered the chance to take one on. In this case, both weekly hours and pay would increase.

  • Covering for other LAs: When an LA is absent, they are asked to reach out to their peers for coverage. Any LA who steps in to cover for another LA receives pay for that time, making it a great way to pick up extra hours when available.
