How many hours does a Learning Assistant work, and what are their responsibilities?

On average, Learning Assistants (LAs) work about 5 hours per week, though the exact time may vary with the flow of the semester. These responsibilities are typically divided as follows:

  • 3 hours supporting student learning

    • This may look like two 80-minute sessions or three 55-minute sessions

    • Formats can include lab, lecture, recitation, study group, or a mix
